Ghanaian Highlife artiste KK Fosu has further addressed the backlash he received for not attending the funeral of blogger John Claude, who died in a car accident in May 2024.

In an interview on Hitz FM on July 22, 2024, KK Fosu expressed his frustration with bloggers and critics, accusing them of not checking on his well-being while he was still recovering from the accident but rather writing things about him to tarnish his image.

"None of the bloggers called me to check on me, yet they bashed me for not attending John Claude's funeral. They do not care about the living; they only care about the dead," KK Fosu stated.

He emphasized that both he and his colleague Bless are still undergoing treatment for their injuries and that it was not mandatory for him to attend the funeral given his condition.

“And then for me to wake up, still on the sickbed and see all these write-ups trying to tarnish my image, do you think I will forgive them?” he said amidst tears.

KK Fosu also revealed that despite their injuries, they composed a song in memory of John Claude just three days after being hospitalized and added that the bloggers should have shown their support at the funeral instead of criticizing him.

“Even on our 3rd day after I was hospitalized, we composed a song for the boy. Because nobody knows about John Claude.

“All those trying to rope me into this situation. How many of you people know about John Claude?

“No one knew about John Claude before his death. If for anything at all, it was the bloggers who were supposed to show their love at his funeral,” he said.

In a direct message to George Britton, one of the critics, KK Fosu said, "George Britton, don’t be a fool to be writing that you are disappointed in me. Am I your rank?"

What happened?

KK Fosu and his colleague Bless were involved in a tragic car crash on the Accra-Apam highway on May 25, 2024. Both sustained serious injuries, including broken legs. Unfortunately, John Claude, who was also Bless's videographer, died instantly.

Following John Claude’s burial on July 19, 2024, social media users and industry stakeholders, including Elorm Beenie and Eric Toscar, criticized KK Fosu and Bless for not attending the final funeral rites or the one-week commemoration. They were also reproached for their absence and lack of communication with the bereaved family.

In response, KK Fosu expressed his frustration in a Facebook post on July 22, 2024. He stated, “Elorm Beenie, you and your guys are very funny to play with my name. Go to Apam police station and fight for justice for our brother Claude. The one who hit us with his car is walking freely, my boy. Don’t play with fire; it will burn you.”
