Media personality Afia Pokua, also known as Vim Lady, has faced intense criticism for urging Ghanaians to unite and assist in rescuing LilWin from potential jail time.
In a viral Instagram video, Vim Lady explained that LilWin provides employment for many people and has played a significant role in the revival of Ghana’s movie industry.
She believes that LilWin’s contribution to Ghana’s creative industry makes him a national treasure worth protecting.
The media personality's comments did not sit well with many internet users.
A significant number of netizens who commented on the video explained that no one is above the law, and therefore LilWin cannot be exempt. This group also believed that Lil Win's achievements cannot outweigh the potential benefits the state could gain from holding him accountable.
There was a section that expressed concern that LilWin might escape punishment due to his wealth and status in society.
A few also made jokes about the situation, suggesting that LilWin should be saved by the people from Philadelphia, the church he belongs to.
The Asokore Mampong District Court, which is handling the case involving the actor, has adjourned the case to July 29, 2024, awaiting advice from the Attorney-General.
