“No one really believed in us, but this how far #GHComedy has come”

Comedian and founder of Comedy Bar, James Brown has indicated that although objectives laid down to raise the comedy banners high were not completely achieved, “the Comedy Fraternity gained its grounds with outstanding performances by its crusaders on various platforms nationwide.”

According to him, the industry’s major challenge was gaining sponsorship, hence, “I funded couple of the initial shows from my pocket until the number of patrons heightened and then the entrance proceeds started paying the bills.”

“No one really believed in us let alone sponsor our petty shows, but fortunately for us, Giant Malt made it their responsibility to sponsor our various editions and tours.

The Video Editor of Sapphire Production furthermore noted, “Although it is amazing working with fellow comedians, it’s likewise annoying especially when trying to have a serious business discussion… LOL!”

Away from Comedy Bar, he indicated that there is a lot Ghanaians should expect from him as “I have ventured into stage plays and dance dramas.”

Adding, “I love new challenges so I will definitely ‘jump’ onto movie trains soon; just as I earlier indicated, 2015 is the year of insanity.”

Outlining ambitions for Comedy Bar 2015, James Brown disclosed that 2015 is the year of insanity filled with adequate surprises; “We are not just thinking outside the box; we are totally tearing the box up with rather bigger, better and outstanding performances and also get more venues.”

He expressed his appreciation to people and occasions who played major roles in the growth and acceptance of GhComedy including Captain, Aunty Beryl, Sytris Café Crew, and management and staff of Silver lounge for ‘containing’ us with all our troubles at Comedy Bar every month,” he acknowledged.

He further extended his appreciation, “to my fellow ‘madmen’ and woman (comedians) including David Oscar, DKB, David Aglah, Foster Romanus, Khemikal, Heiress Jacinta, Augustin Dennis, Ajeezay, and Halfco; and major thanks to all the comedy patrons and anyone who have followed and supported us to date. We say God bless you.”
