Patrons who trooped to the Labadi Beach last Monday in anticipation of a good time at the Nokia Republic Day Beach Fiesta had more than what they had expected as they were treated to wonderful performances by some of hiplife music?s big names.
Organised by and produced by Blaq Capricorn, the fiesta, which was a blend of music, sports and fashion was attended by a large number of people and was a huge success.
It took off with sporting activities between some of the organisers and patrons. Some of these activities included arm wrestling, volley ball, weight lifting, bench weight lifting and beach golf.
The games were a lot of fun and provided some very funny moments especially with the weight lifting competition and arm wrestling competitions.
The competitions provided the opportunity for the contestants to show off their well built bodies and good physiques.
Huge muscles were aplenty and the ladies feasted their eyes. It was exciting to watch talented men and women displaying their skills in the various games.
The Mcs for the day were Sammy B of Happy FM, Reggie Rockstone (the hiplife godfather) and Bola Ray of Joy FM.
Artistes like Reggie Rockstone, Wutah, Obrafuor, Nkasei, Kwaw Kese, Kwabena Kwabena and Traffic (winners of the Ghana finals of Nescafe African Revelations) were present and put up some wonderful performances to the delight of the huge crowd.
Performance after performance was greeted with loud cheers and applause by the very responsive audience. Traffic?s performance with Wutah was well received and so was Obrafuor act with Tinny of his Oye Ohene Remix track.
The appearance of Tinny was both a surprise and a delight to the audience since he has not performed publicly in a long time.
The audience showed him how much he was missed by their unending cheers. Nkasei shook the crowd with songs like the ever popular Tuabodom and Monkey Chop Banana.
Kwaw Kese performance was very good and so was Kwabena Kwabena. His performance was unique and he wore a constant smile on his face to show the fans how happy he was to be entertaining them.
They gave him their approval with their screams and applause. Mc Sammy B was not left out as he showed the crowd his musical side doing some free style ragga which went down very well with them.
Side attractions included dance competitions among selected fans. Two of them emerged as winners after dancing through three rounds of hot dancehall and mapuka songs.
The beach fiesta was part of Nokia?s responsibility to provide entertainment to the people of Ghana on such a remarkable day.
Nokia also took the opportunity to launch their latest range of phones the N3250 and the N91.
Music was provided by Radio 7 in collaboration with Controlite while the beautiful stage was mounted by Elder Stage Services.
