“The only regret I have in my life is the picture I took with my son,” actress Akuapem Poloo has revealed.

She was on Accra 100.5 FM, on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, talking to Nana Romeo.

“Since childhood, till I grew up, my only regret is the picture I took with my son. Aside from that, I have no regrets,” she stressed.

The memory, she added, “is seriously haunting me”.

“I’m thinking about my son, he’ll grow up. As he is growing now, he’s asking a lot of questions already.

“As a single mother, I need to prepare myself for how I’ll answer him for him to understand the situation of how his nakedness and standing in front of me as if he’s looking at mommy’s nakedness will sound in his mind. That is my only regret," the actress stated.

She said currently, the photo cannot be found when googled though it comes to her mind “always”.

When Romeo prayed for Allah’s help for her, she prayed also: “Allah help my son also to be strong to [handle] it that he wouldn’t haunt me with it.”

In July 2020, to mark her son’s seventh birthday, Akuapem Poloo posted a photo of her squatting in front of her son – they both looked naked. This sparked public outrage, and the Accra High Court sentenced her to three months in prison in April 2021, explaining it was a punitive measure to deter others from doing the same or similar.

Poloo had pleaded guilty to three charges: publication of obscene materials, engaging in domestic violence in ways to undermine the privacy and integrity of another person and engaging in domestic violence which can spoil the dignity of another human being.

In December 2021, Akuapem Poloo’s lawyers got her out of the Nsawam prison on bail after she had spent eight days there. When the court reversed the bail, the lawyers successfully secured her non-custodial sentencing and a GHS12,000 fine.
