OMAMA, ROYAL BLOOD PREMIERED

HOT, FUNNY AND MOVING, GET A COPY

The most anticipated movie Ghanaians around the globe had been waiting for was finally premiered in Chicago. Having been enticed by various Nigerian movies of all kinds, some Ghanaians in the Ghana Film Industry decided to take their craft to a whole new level and make history. They were ashamed and tired of being the butt of many jokes that the industry lacked talent; some producers with exception of Miracle Films, dared to take risks like their Nigerian counterparts. As a result, Ghana has been swamped with lots of Nigerian movies with great story lines and acting skills.

Omama; Royal Blood, "the American style Nana King Movie" with diverse stellar cast finally was premiered on Friday. The movie was a great work of art by renowned Actor, Writer, Producer and Director, Nana Anim Mensah popular known as Nana King. The success of any major project requires sacrifice, dedication and the will to succeed no matter whatever obstacles. With the support of renowned actors/producers Nat Banini and Henry Nartey and others, their immense contributions have given the Ghana Film Industry a new lease of life. The movie took two weeks to shoot at a location in Bollingbrook, Chicago and that is unheard of but they did it with a team effort and again with the will to win mentality.

The Mayor of Bollingbrook, IL has been credited with being instrumental in making the filming of the movie in Bollingbrook, IL, a reality. The premiere was hosted by none other than the well renowned Jennifer Nartey who also was in the movie. Mrs Nartey was excellent as always. The cast and crew from around the USA were present to see the premiere. Actress Lin Shukla "Obroni wife", the leading actress graced the occasion. Lin, a professional actress, easy going and very friendly told Mr. CNN of Ghanaweb that she was happy to be part of such a great concept and was happy to do something meaningful and working with such a great crew. She had fun doing it and looks forward to more African American movies.

As always the ubiquitous, tall, well gifted, great personality, Kwame "Who am I, Da gal dem Sugar" Owusu Ansah played the role that would propel him to Hollywood prominence. KOA and actress Ellen Anim Mensah were also magnificent. The cast deserve an award for great acting. Can somebody please tell us the last time a Ghanaian movie involving the FBI, an American hospital, ambulance and a great setting took place. Nice story lines fused with comedy and a great message that when one leaves his/her family for a great opportunity in the Diaspora, they should not forget their roots. The life experienced on the American soil, the difficulty in raising a child and the interracial marriage pressured by ones extended family is also exhibited and any viewer in the Diaspora can relate to it.

When the time came for the auction, the highest bidder for the first DVD was Ms Rose Antwi who paid $300 to as her contribution to the movie. Nana King in an exclusive interview with Mr. CNN mentioned that since he came to America, he has learnt a lot and he is going to use whatever he has learnt to do more great works of art. He has demonstrated that the days of Nigerian movies bombarding Ghana was about to end. He is confident that with the help of Ghanaians worldwide, more movies will be on the way. Actor/Producer Nat Banini made an interesting statement that "people don't know by doing this movie, we are killing three birds with one stone, one;unearthing talents from Ghana, two; promoting our film industry at a level of prominence and three; contributing to the Aids cause". We need to unearth talents, create jobs and put our Film Industry to its former glory. The more the film industry is patronized, the more our home libraries will be filled with quality Ghanaian movies. Nana King and crew have taken the initiative to do a 21st century American style movie and they deserve a commendation for their hard work and dedication.

Ghanaian community leaders in Chicago including Nana Akwasi Addae, the Asantemanhene of Chicago was also in attendance. Antoinette A. Kwateng J.D., Ms Ghanaweb also came with her family to offer her support.

Nana King, who received a thunderous round of applause, was emotional and excited the audience who watched the movie was very impressed. He thanked the actors, production crew, and the media including Ghanaweb for their immense support.

Nana disclosed to Ghanaweb that a new movie was in the works and it is called "Kpalogo". (YOU HEARD IT HEAR FIRST)
