Irate fans of hiplife dynamo Obour went berserk- smashed bottles and glasses, scattered tables and chairs - and swore at organisers during a recent performance in Hamburg, Germany.
Horrified and frightened organizers quickly called the Police who arrived in time to prevent the obviously agitated and disappointed fans from causing further damages.
This following, Graphic Showbiz sources say, a frustrating long wait for the hiplife star to perform after he abruptly disappeared from the stage following a five minute appearance.
In a chat with Verus Nartey, a representative of Family Tree Entertainment, Obour's management company, he confirmed the unfortunate incident but insisted it was not the fault of the multiple-award winning star.
"Obour was supposed to mount the stage at 12:00 midnight but the organizers asked him to make a brief appearance around 10:00pm to assure fans he definitely on the bill", he explained.
"Obviously, Obour fans after tasting five minutes of his magic could not wait for too long to have the star back on stage - and this situation resulted in the riots", he continued.
According to Nartey, the Police managed to calm the situation and Obour finally performed after 3:00am adding that members of the audience who stay behind really enjoyed the concert.
The hiplife star is currently in Italy - on the last stage of 'Obour Konkontiba European Tour 2006', which has recorded magnetic performances in Denmark, Holland, Germany and Italy.
He is scheduled to perform in a number of Italian cities including Napoli, Modena, Pordenone, Vicenza and Bresia before returning home at the end of September.
In Denmark, Obour thrilled audiences in Copenhagen, Bonholm and Fvaneke with a four-piece band that included vocalist Babashanti and Yvonne Ohene Djan, also a vocalist from Ghana.
Obour is scheduled to return to the recording studio for a joint session with highlife A. B. Crentsil. The result of this collaboration will be sent on a tour of Europe in 2007 as part of Ghana's 50th anniversary celebrations.
The young musician has four albums - all of which have won various awards. he once picked up five prizes at Ghana Music Awards - a feat no other hiplife musician has achieved.
