Obrafour the rap Sofo has finally revealed what caused his beef with Lord Keny back in the day when they both started singing in the late 1990s.
Their beef which is believed to be one of the biggest in the music industry of Ghana raged on for years until Lord Kenya became an evangelist and completely abandoned the hiplife music career.
For the past two decades, none of the veteran rappers have come out to explain what really started the beef in the first place until now.
In an interview with Radio Central hosted by Amansan Krakye, Obrafour has finally opened up. According to the legendary musician, it all started when he referred to himself as the best rapper in one of his songs.
Obrafour described himself as the “the Rap Heavy Weight Champion in a song.”. A self-proclaimed title which did not sit well with an equally best rapper at the time, Lord Kenya sparking the beef.
“I was the first musician ever to say I was the Rap Heavy Weight Champion in a song. Any time Lord Kenya dropped his album, people rushed to buy just to hear if he had thrown shots at me and it was the same when I also dropped an album.”
“We were mature and open-minded about it and we realized it will inure to our benefit because during that time we understood the benefits and we played along,” he told Amansan Krakye.
