Newly elected MUSIGA president, Bice Osei Kuffour, aka Obour, has appointed hip life musician and MTN icon Okyeame Kwame as spokesperson for the union.
The appointment comes barely three days after Obuor won the Musiga Presidency.
He told Hitz FM that while he intends focusing on his work as leader of the musicians union, Okyeame Kwame will be informing the general public about its activities.
And in a chat with Hitz FM, Okyeame Kwame confirmed his new appointment and called it a great opportunity to contribute to the progress of the union.
Meanwhile the 30-year old MUSIGA president, Obuor, plans to meet all contestants in Friday’s elections for a unity meeting on Wednesday at the Musiga office.
Obuor says the meeting is to ensure that his administration provides a unifying front for all musicians. He said unity is crucial to the success of the union.
Former Musiga president, Alhaji Sidiku Buari has expressed confidence in the new executive and said he is expects the best from the team.
According to Sidiku Buari the new executives should help the industry by creating jobs for musicians, adding that there is great need to reach out to and cater for musicians outside the urban areas.
He also expressed disappointment at speculations that he will control the newly elected president of the union hence his support for Obour’s campaign.
He said most of the delegates who voted for Obour were the youth and they wanted a change and that is why they voted for him, explaining that with the elections over, the new executive especially the president should ensure that the right things are done for the union.
