Ohenemedia launches Youtube-based music chart show

A local music chart show solely based on YouTube views, is in the works. This was made known by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ohene Media Studios, Abraham Ohene-Djan, at the press launch of a YouTube/Ohenemedia Partner Program. The thirty-minute show will air on Metro TV every week.

Musicians whose videos are used for the purposes of the chart show will be adequately paid, made possible by the monetization arrangement between Google, which owns YouTube, and Ohenemedia.

Kofi Tsikata, an official of the World Bank office in Ghana, advised musicians to do their part in ensuring that the payment system is transparent. “Your own role in ensuring that everything is transparent is crucial.”

A beneficiary of the agreement between YouTube and OheneMedia, gospel musician Michael Oware Sakyi (OJ) underscored the importance of the arrangement, and called on colleague musicians to patronize it.

The YouTube Partner Program provides an opportunity for content creators to share to a worldwide audience and earn money doing so.

YouTube is the world’s largest online video community, allowing millions of people to watch, and share original videos.
