Reports reaching BEATWAVES indicate that certain individuals have started pirating tickets meant for Okyeame Kwame’s Versatile Show and album launch on December 14 at the National Theatre in Accra.
According to the reports, the pirated tickets are being sold secretly to unsuspecting music fans in some parts of Accra and Kumasi for GH¢50 and GH¢100.
Okyeame Kwame, who got wind of the pirated tickets a couple of days ago, told BEATWAVES in a chat: “I am not worried at all because all the original tickets have a secret device which will help us to identify the fake ones from the original.”
He said on the day of the show a counterfeit detecting machine will be put in place to check all the tickets from fans at the gate, adding that all those with pirated tickets will not have access to the show.
He warned that all those who want to purchase tickets for the show should kindly visit any of the MTN retail shops throughout the country.
He further disclosed that so far preparations were far advanced for the ‘Okyeame Kwame Versatile Show’, which sought to combine theatre, music and dance on one stage in one night.
Also called ‘Rap Doctor’, Okyeame Kwame revealed that, “I am staging the ‘Okyeame Kwame Versatile Show’ at the National Theatre to coincide with the album launch in appreciation of my fans who have given me so much. This album provides a lot of education in literature for fans to keep.”
The ‘Okyeame Kwame Versatile Show’ is the fourth solo album by Okyeame Kwame. The only one of its kind, the Rap Doctor delivers a mixture of English, Twi, and Pidgin (broken English) languages on this album.
One December 14, at the show, Okyeame Kwame is set to perform each song on the album with the various artistes featured on it. Artistes featured include Kesse, Raquel, Efya, Irene Logan, Nana Yaa, Tinny, Edem, and Stone (of Bradez fame).
