The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has asked its Brong Ahafo regional chairman, Kofi Agyemang to continue in office in an acting position till elections are held for a new chairman.
MUSIGA's national executives were in the Brong Ahafo region last week as part of their national tour.
At every regional stop, elections are conducted and demos of musical works are also collected for the MTN Hit Maker show.
Kofi Agyemang who has served his term in office was asked to remain in office due to the fact that nobody filed for nomination for that post.
The Director of Special Projects at MUSIGA, Reverend Fiifi Khan Agyarkwa confirmed the situation to Hitz FM in an interview.
He said, Kofi Agyemang was appointed by the National Executive Committee to act until a substantive candidate was elected for the region.
According to Reverend Fiifi, “The job is stressful to an extent because you are dealing with human beings and not everybody is prepared to go through the stress.”
The Director also refuted suspicions that the situation has been occasioned by the fact that there are a few prominent musicians in Brong Ahafo Region.
“That’s not true; we have a lot of musicians in the region. In terms of prominence, I cannot give you names off hand, but when you get to the region you will see the activity of music there very strongly.”
In a related story, the former Regional Secretary of MUSIGA for Wa, Isaac Damoah was elected as the new chairman.
