Pancakes: How the healthy ancient delicacy is made

Did you know pancakes are one of the oldest dishes in the world?

This amazing meal can be ready in just 15 to 20 minutes.

Knowing the exact diet of our ancient ancestors can be difficult, but according to research conducted by scientists, our predecessors around 30,000 years ago enjoyed this amazing delicacy.

When we think of these fluffy cakes we served in most original pancake houses today, it’s quite a bit different from what our ancient ancestors would have consumed.

Pancakes can be served as breakfast, lunch, and supper as well. It is one of the most healthy and nutritious meals one can come by.

Ingredients:

1. All-purpose flour 1 or 2 cups
2. Baking powder; making the pancake light and fluffy
3. Sugar
4. Salt to balance sweetness
5. Eggs 3 to 4
6. Milk
7. Melted butter
8. Nuts mug
9. Vanilla essence to enhance flavour
10. Vegetable oil for cooking

Below are the steps taken to prepare a pancake.

Step 1

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, Nut mug, and salt.

In a medium bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, and sugar until evenly combined.

Pour the milk/egg mixture and the melted butter into the dry ingredients and whisk until just combined. If the batter seems too thick, add a little water or more milk then add vanilla essence to enhance flavour.

Step 2

Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat,
Drop batter by ¼ cupsful onto the pan.
Cook for 2-3 minutes, until bubbles appear on the surface
Flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
Serve pancakes hot with your favourite toppings.

Pancakes can be served with beverages such as orange juice, Coca-Cola, Malta Guinness, and others.
