Popular reggae radio presenter, Blakk Rasta, has reiterated his call for the legalisation of marijuana in Ghana, claiming legalised medicines such as paracetamol are dangerous than the marijuana.

He wondered why dangerous chemicals and medicines are legalised and being sold in the open market yet marijauan, which he said, has many healing properties is still be considered illegal in Ghana.

“We have legalised dangerous chemicals which are on the market. Paracetamol is more dangerous than marijuana. … Do you know how many people paracetamol kills?” he wondered.

Commenting on the recent call by comedian David Oscar for marijuana to be decriminalised, the Blakk Rasta said “Most of our human needs can be provided by marijuana”.

Speaking on Entertainment Review on Takoradi-based Connect FM, Black Rasta who is also a musician, said marijuana could be used for medicines “we can also use it for oils that can be sold out there”

“In fact marijuana oil is one of the most healing, when it comes to therapy,” he claimed.

The ‘Salaga Soldier’ claimed marijuana has thousands of uses, noting it was unfortunate that Ghanaians were only capitalising on one unfortunate use of marijuana (smoking) to demonise the herb which he said has economic viability.

In his opinion Ghana loses millions of dollars every second that it doesn’t legalize the herb, and advised that Ghana takes advantage of the benefits to legalise marijuana.

He encouraged the government to pilot the cultivation of marijuana with state farms which he said should be under the direct control and supervision of government, and based on the outcome give out license to private farmers to cultivate same.
