Ghanaian journalist Bridget Otoo has stated that the proceedings in Parliament today will be a waste of time.
Her comment comes amid the ongoing dispute between the Majority and Minority, following the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin, declaring four seats vacant.
In a post on X, the outspoken journalist expressed her belief that the conflict would lead to nothing significant, urging Ghanaians to lower their expectations.
"Parliament is going to be a waste of time today," she posted.
Other Ghanaian celebrities, including broadcast journalists Serwaa Amihere and Nana Aba, have also shared their thoughts on the unfolding situation.
Meanwhile, today’s Parliament session is expected to be interesting, as MPs from both the Majority and Minority factions are vying for Majority seats.
The NDC MPs have insisted that they are the Majority and will assume their place in the Majority section of the Parliament chamber.
This follows Speaker Alban Bagbin’s declaration of four seats as vacant, which has elevated the NDC from a minority to a majority status in Parliament.
The NPP MPs, who were originally the Majority, are distressed by this development and have taken the matter to the Supreme Court, which has temporarily frozen the Speaker’s order.
As it stands, the NPP MPs have been permitted to continue their role as the Majority until further notice.
Currently, both the NDC and NPP are claiming to be the Majority in Parliament.
