Accra April 16, GNA- A 45-year-old Pastor, who allegedly threatened his wife with a knife on Friday appeared before a Circuit Court in Accra charged with threat of death.
Rev. Ebenezer Ampadu-Siaw,( the name of the Church was not mentioned ) pleaded not guilty.
The court, chaired by Mr Kwadwo Owusu admitted him to a five-million cedis bail to reappear on May 7.
Chief Inspector Emmanuel Boison told the court that the complainant, Mrs Naomi Ampadu-Siaw had been married to the accused and had three issues, all staying at Adenta, a suburb in Accra.
He said for sometime now, the accused had been spending nights outside his matrimonial home and at mid-night on April 9, this year, when the accused decided to leave the house, the complainant, who was not pleased prevented the accused from leaving.
The Prosecutor said she took the car keys belonging to the accused and hid it to prevent him from leaving the house.
Police Chief Inspector Boison said the accused became infuriated, picked a knife and threatened to stab the complainant. He said the complainant screamed for help and a niece of the accused rushed out of her room to the scene and found the accused holding the knife.
The prosecutor said the niece ran out of the house to seek for assistance to rescue the complainant, but the accused left the complainant and rather chased his niece.
Prosecution said during the absence of the accused, the complainant managed to escape through a window and sought refuge in her uncle's house.
He said the accused returned and without finding the complainant traced her to the complainant's uncle's house with the knife.
