Ghanaian gospel musician Nicholas Omane Acheampong has expressed his frustration over the insults he had been receiving for supporting the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

In an interview with Joy FM, he shared that many National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters have verbally attacked him due to his political stance.

"I am facing a lot of challenges in the form of insults. In this country, if you involve yourself in politics, you should be prepared for insults.

"They will insult you because you are not part of them. The NDC people, almost everybody is insulting me for supporting Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia as if he is not a Ghanaian," he said.

Acheampong also expressed concerns about the potential consequences if former President John Mahama were to be re-elected.

According to him, Mahama would cancel the free senior high school policy, which is why he supports Bawumia.

"I have a good reason for supporting him because I know for sure that if we relax… and former President Mahama is voted into power again in this country, the first thing he will do is to cancel the free senior high school policy," he said.

Nicholas Omane Acheampong joins a host of other celebrities backing the NPP's presidential candidate, including actor Prince David Osei, gospel singer Diana Asamoah, and music producer Appietus.

On the other hand, several celebrities support the NDC's presidential candidate, John Mahama. These include actors Wayoosi and Big Akwes, musician Nacee, comedian DKB, and gospel musician Jak Alolome.
