People tried to expropriate Fennec's property - Ursula Owusu

Lawyer and family spokesperson for Fennec Okyere, the late manager of Hiplife artiste, Kwaw Kese, has told Starr News some people tried to expropriate the late entrepreneur’s property after he died.

Ursula Owusu said although the family did not know about some of his properties initially, they were able to find out and have retrieved them all.

Exactly a year ago today, news of the murder of the 31-year-old hit the Ghanaian media.

He was found dead at his Manet Gardens residence on the Spintex Road in Accra on Thursday, March 13, 2014.

Fennec’s death broke the hearts of many in the entertainment industry and shook both his family and the nation.

Speaking to Starr News Parliamentary correspondent Ibrahim Alhassan in an exclusive interview, the Ablekuma West MP said she is doing all she can as the family’s lawyer to protect the interest of Okyere’s children and loved ones.

“We are doing all we can to protect the little property that he left behind,” she remarked.

“There’s been quite a few encroachment on it and people trying to take it over because they didn't think we knew about it, but the few we know about, we try to protect and try to take care of his son and his mother,” she added.

She also expressed disappointment in the Police for not helping give Fennec’s family the closure they “deserve”.

“They haven’t told us anything, nothing! I knew that the Bulldog or Bullfrog thing was a dead end, and it proved to be that.

"Well…anytime you make enquiries they tell you that they are on it. Frankly, I have stopped asking…” she said disappointingly.

She added:“He was a loving father, son, brother friend, loved one, - you know, - he’s impacted so many lives but as far as the police are concerned, he is a statistic and I think they don’t see why they should do more than they've already done or they've also come to a dead end or they are not getting any clues anymore so…that’s it.”

Fennec was laid to rest after a funeral service held at the forecourt of the Trade Fair Centre, La-Accra on Saturday, April 26.
