Photography exposed and prepared me - Nana Yaw Boakye

He took off in the photography industry with TalkOfGH in 2010 after previously working with myjoyonline.com and XFM, between 2007 and 2010; his experience with these establishments helped him pave his way into the fashion industry. He is undoubtedly among best photographers known in the country.

Nana Yaw Boakye, known best in photography took the startling step to what some people described as a switch in career; from photography to fashion explained that “becoming a fashion designing is a long time aspiration but for photography was a leisure pursuit. I am still into photography.”

In a chitchat with GeorgeBriton.com Fashion Team, Nana Yaw affirmed that his leisure pursuit as a photographer really exposed, prepared and also encouraging him into gearing towards his empathy crave as a fashion designer especially at fashion shows as well as photo-shoots with various models and companies.

“Although I entirely ventured into the Fashion Industry this year, I still do photography for TalkOfGH. It was actually not my thing but since I desired of having my own clothing line and didn’t know how and where to start from, I chose photography to help me find my way”, he revealed.

According to Nana Yaw Boakye, his perseverance and endeavor of owning a clothing line materialized last year, 2012 when he initiated his line tagged ‘EFIKYIRE LIFESTYLE’ simply meaning a ‘BACK-YARD LIFESTYLE’.

By ways of appreciating and maintaining our local fabrics’ heritage, Nana Yaw uses the Ankara local fabric which comes with such brands as ‘Afi bi y'esaen’, ‘Esubura’, ‘Zammenama k3t3’, ‘Aso bayir3’, ‘Akyekyede3 3kyi’, ‘3newa’ and ‘Ahwede3 por’ in designing his wears; “as my target market is the youth and the middle-aged people which brings back memories.”

“Admiring such huge clothing line; ‘Sean John’ owned by Sean Diddi Combs, it sure does comes with determination and hard work; but so far the journey into fashion designing has been overwhelming”, he told GeorgeBritton.com Fashion Team.
