Despite the widespread discontent expressed by a section of the Ghanaian public over the sidelining of some Ghanaian artistes billed to perform at the 2017 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards held at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC), January 4, 2018, the presence of their Nigerian counterparts cannot be overlooked.

Prior to the prestigious awards ceremony Efya, KiDi and Shatta Wale were billed to perform on the night but the it seemed the organisers did not deliver to the anxious patrons who were looking forward to witness electrifying performances from the local acts.

Instead, popular musicians Phyno and Olamide, their counterparts were among at least six Nigerian artistes who mounted the stage to discharge impressive performances Thursday.

Efya opened the ceremony by singing the National Anthem while Lynx Entertainment’s signing, KiDi closed it respectively but the anticipating crowd were disappointed not to see the “Freedom” crooner, Shatta Wale.

Nigeria’s Phyno performed to some of his well-known songs and finally teamed up with Olamide to sing along to their popular collaborated song, “Fada”.

The former exited the stage after performing his part, leaving Olamide as the last man standing to bring the whole performance to an end.

Egyptian striker Mohamed Salah was crowned the African Player of the Year 2017 at the CAF Awards. The Liverpool forward beat competition from fellow Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane of Senegal and Gabon’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
