Award-winning gospel female artiste Piesie Esther has explained why some Ghanaian female gospel artistes have developed a taste for apparels that display their curvy shapes.

In a recent interview with radio presenter Nana Romeo on Accra FM, which was shared by zionfelixdotcom on Instagram, the female gospel artiste justified their adaptation to the new era, attributing it to the change of time.

She said the world is evolving, thus the need to follow the trend rather than get stuck in the past, adding that she understands fashion, and this is evident in how she used to dress in the past.

“The world is evolving. One of my daughters showed me an old picture I took back in the day. If I showed you that picture now and you saw the dress I was wearing, you would know that I like to dress well. My father also liked dressing so his children followed in his footsteps. I understand fashion,” she said.

To add to her defense, she mentioned that she dresses to glorify God, who she said loves beautiful things.

“I have also realized that the God I serve likes beautiful things. Maybe the pastor didn’t say we shouldn’t wear nice outfits. Maybe he was talking about how revealing the dress is. Sometimes, I wear certain outfits I do not feel comfortable in. It’s not intentional, but either I was in a rush or I never went for a fitting to check if the dress was okay or not. It doesn’t mean that because [if] you’re a Christian, you shouldn’t also wear nice outfits. You have to see me to also glorify God’s name,” she added.

Her remarks followed a complaint from the outspoken man of God, Prophet Kofi Oduro, who was demanding answers to why some female gospel musicians wear sexual clothes.
