A well-known music entrepreneur, Kwame Baah, has urged people to play Ghanaian music on purpose this December in order to help the music industry thrive.
According to the Music Digital Marketing Expert, the festivities in December expose a big number of people from various backgrounds to Ghanaian music.
Kwame Baah, Chief Executive Officer of Yve Digital, remarked that Ghanaian artistes' streams often increase around December, and that a gesture to listen to more Ghanaian songs will assist industry growth.
"With the increasing number of foreigners coming to Ghana around December, I encourage all Ghanaians, particularly DJs and radio stations, to play more Ghanaian music.
"This is a way to expand the industry and support our artists on the global stage. These little gestures by fans help artistes' growth and encourage them to create more captivating music," he posted on Instagram.
When asked about the evolution of Ghanaian music in recent years, Kwame Baah noted that artists had made significant progress, particularly on streaming services.
"Ghanaian artists are racking up millions of streams across various digital platforms as a result of the increased external exposure.
"I think Ghanaian artistes are getting the needed recognition on the international platforms, and by playing more of the songs locally, they get more external audiences," Kwame Baah said.
Kwame Baah's influence in the music industry continues to grow after he was adjudged Best Music and Entertainment Personality at the 2023 Forty Under 40 Achievers Awards.
