Plead guilty – Ampaw counsels Wisa

Wisa Greid Wisa Greid

Hiplife artiste Wisa Greid has been advised to plead guilty and ask for leniency in a case where he has been charged for indecent exposure of his genitals.

A private legal practitioner, Maurice Ampaw, has noted that the decision of the artiste to play hide-and-seek with the prosecution will further worsen his case, hence, he must cooperate with the prosecution, plead guilty, and ask for forgiveness given that he is not a hardened criminal.

An Accra Circuit Court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Wisa following his failure to appear in court.

The court was expected to view the video tendered as evidence by the prosecution, which depicts the artiste showing his genitals to a live audience.

Speaking in an interview with DJ Premier, host of Entertainment Capital on Accra100.5FM, Mr Ampaw said: “What is going to happen is that the day you will be caught you will be denied bail, you will be detained until the case is over because you did not respect the court.

"It is in the interest of Wisa to cooperate with the prosecution. This is not a serious case, the judge may free you. If I were his lawyer, I would plead guilty and plead for leniency…that the act was not deliberate.

“So you say something and the judge can tell you: ‘Go and sin no more.’

"He is not a hardened criminal, this case could have come to an end if the lawyer wanted to bring it to an end. Wisa could be freed by being cautioned and being made to sign a bond of good behaviour but this hide-and-seek will not help."
