Three suspected armed robbers are in the grips of the Twifu Praso police helping in investigations into a robbery case at Twifu Oil Palm Plantation (TOPP) last week Friday. Their names are being withheld for security reasons. Sources closed to the police said on June 1st, at 10 pm, armed men numbering about 15 invaded the TOPP offices during a downpour. They took five security men hostage broke into and ransacked the main office and the offices of the accountants, commercial manager and personnel manager.
While the operation was going on two articulated truck drivers who were carrying fertilizers to the company were ordered at gun-point by the armed robbers to surrender an amount of 937,000 cedis. Police said they succeeded in arresting the three suspects when they arrived at the scene at about 11 pm. The rest escaped.
