The Pop Star talent hunt has begun in earnest. All those who have been dreaming all their lives of becoming musicians but have never had the opportunity will now smile, but on condition that they have talent.
You could be an instrumentalist, guitarist, congalist or percussionist with talent that has not yet been discovered or showcased, and you qualify.
Ensembles that exhibit traditional music and dance, choir groups, gospel trios, reggae and raga neophytes and all first time artistes and dreamers alike, are invited to be exposed to the world.
You do not have to worry if you are into R&B, jazz, hiplife, highlife, country music, borborbor, adowa, kpanlogo or if you can display on the xylophone, so long as you have an expressible musical idea worth recording.
The Bibini talent hunt is the first ever attempt to give a lifeline to aspiring musicians with hot dreams but nothing to show for it.
Their dreams will now become a reality. They will from today be auditioned at Napoleon Club, Osu, Accra, and helped to produce high-class demos they could send to executive producers and financiers to get hooked to a label.
Auditioning will take place on Fridays and Saturdays between 2 and 4 p.m. This is part of the plans of the Bibini new generation to bring out artiste who are in limbo.
The managers of the ultra-modern studio say each artiste will have a song each recorded after auditioning free of charge and given the tape to and market themselves. So artistes that have talent but don’t have demos should take advantage of the Bibini New Generation offer.
The whole programme is under the theme, “Changing the Ghana musical landscape – Making a new generation of Pop Stars”. The selected artistes will also be free to participate in a live musical concert where they will be backed up to perform on stage to showcase their talents and showmanship.
This is also to encourage the rebirth of live band music in Ghana and to encourage people to invest in live bands so that musicians can earn a living.
The talent hunt will be a bi-annual event and according to the new management of the Bibini Studios, it will be in collaboration with some radio and television stations and associates in the media industry if the first programme becomes a success.
