Popchain Returns

A most interesting music event, Pop chain Nostalgia, took place Saturday at the El-Wak stadium to a sparse audience.

An event like that, good as it turned out to be, should have enjoyed a much bigger patronage than it did. Two reasons justify the call for better patronage.

First, the show was a celebration of the good days in musicianship, when students’ talent were discovered and nurtured right from secondary school.

So it was an occasion not only to remember those good old days but also to appreciate how those who discovered their music talent continue to manifest it.

The second reason justifying the show is that it serves as encouragement for many young people to realize their potential in music especially at this time that what one can play is being lost to computers.

Unfortunately, owing to poor publicity or the non-realization of the importance of the show or both, the organizers seem not to have pushed it enough to attract a better patronage than it did.

Even for what took place last Saturday, Showbiz would like to congratulate the organizers for the wonderful preparation they put into the show.

And also the sponsors for backing a very good cause. It was a delight to note that beside those who have turned professionals in music, others who are now into politics, business, media and whatever, still have their “mojo” working in them.

We hope that the event will be sustained and made ever more relevant by involving some current students who can still play.
