Chairman and CEO of Abbeam Group of Companies, Prof. Abbeam Ampomah Danso has alleged that most numbers that turn up at movie premieres are not real.
According to the producer of “Bismark The Joke” movie, some moviemakers hire the services of people to fill cinemas in order to get good ratings after the premiere but he does not believe in that.
Speaking about his recently premiered movie “Bismark The Joke” in an interview with Zionfelix.com, he said the numbers that attended the event was beyond his imagination.
The Chancellor of Abbeam University emphasized that he did not play “gimmicks” during the movie premiere like others producers who bring in foreigners to fill empty seats.
“The premiere was amazing. All the movies I’ve produced are produced in UK and this was my first time premiering my movie in Ghana. The way people accepted it and how they were laughing showed how people loved the movie.”
He stressed that “you would realize that we didn’t do any gimmicks. Most of the people who premiere their movies go and get some people to come and fill the place for people to think the place was full but he the producer knows it wasn’t but we didn’t go for anybody. We didn’t even do much advert but attendance was huge”.
Talking about the cost of the movie, Prof. Abbeam stated that he does movie for fun but not for profit so he does not take into consideration cost incurred and what he will made out of the movie.
“To be honest with you, I don’t do movie for money. Somebody will say then I’m a bad businessman but no, if you have a proper business doing and you get enough money, there are certain things you do for fun.
I did Bismark The Joke because I wanted to make my wife happy. My wife loves Bismark’s acting so I just did it for the family.
The amount I spent is peanut to me even though I had to take Bismark from here to London, hire helicopter, pay actors from Britain and other places.”
Prof. Abbeam continued that he is yet to receive proceeds from the movie premiere.
