Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture; Catherine Afeku, has called on Ghanaian musicians to use their talent to propagate the ‘Ghana Beyond Aid’ agenda.

The Ghana Beyond Aid agenda was conceived by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as a way of moving the oil-producing West African nation from depending on aid for survival.

Mrs Afeku, therefore, wants artistes to support the agenda with their skills.

She made the appeal ahead of the All Africa Music Award (AFRIAM) ceremony to be held in Accra.

Ghana was selected to host the programme, slated for November 2018, after Nigeria hosted it for four consecutive times.

Speaking at the launch of the event in Accra on Tuesday, 18 September, Mrs Afeku said: “Let us show the world that we are the first country in sub-Sahara to free itself from mental bondage, and let us use music to tell the story of Africa; let Ghana carry the rest of the continent in November to tell the Ghana Beyond Aid story through our music.”

She continued: “Every creative artiste in Ghana from the north, to the south, to east, and the west, it’s a call to us the good people of Ghana to show the rest of Africa and the world that we are up to the task and even more.

“So, come along join, us on this journey and at the end of the day we will say a big thank you to His Excellency the president of the Republic”
