Rev Nicholas Osei popularly known as Kumchacha, Founder and Leader of Heavens Gate Ministries, has called out Ghana Music Rights Organization(GHAMRO), firmly stating that their plans to make Churches pay royalties is a bad decision and he as a Church owner would never pay.

Speaking in a telephone interview with Abeiku Turkson on TV Africa’s SHOWBIZ AND MORE, Prophet Kumchacha had this to say, “First and foremost as I keep telling Ghanaians, these GHAMRO officials need deliverance, secondly if we as Churches invite Gospel musicians for programs we pay them duly”.

The Prophet went further to school the Officials of GHAMRO saying “if I as Kumchacha invites an Artiste for a Church Program with a duration of one week or less I make sure to pay him or her with an amount of five thousand cedis, so after paying this money to the artiste GHAMRO officials would come to me to collect royalties for the music usage, how sensible is this, in my opinion why don’t they rather tax these artiste on the money being paid to them as royalties”.

According to the Man Of God, GHAMRO should rather concentrate on making the association a credible institution.

Currently it is uncertain if GHAMRO would indeed push through with this plan as many industry players have shown their displeasure.

Showbiz and More airs this and every Friday at 9pm on TV AFRICA.
