Popular Disc Jockey, DJ Slim, has stated that intense criticisms compelled the NPP running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, to apologize to the public over his comments that undermined the influence of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

He pointed out that NAPO's remarks, which belittled Kwame Nkrumah's achievements while praising President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during an NPP event recently, were unfortunate and inappropriate.

The Disc Jockey indicated that the public outrage, which led to criticisms from prominent personalities on radio and TV, prompted NAPO to apologize.

"What NAPO said on stage did not sit well with many people, including me. It was an insult to his own party and the presidential candidate. His biggest task was to dispel the perception of arrogance. He should have thanked the party for choosing him and called for support ahead of the elections.

"When he realized how people were criticizing him on radio and television stations, he acknowledged his mistake and apologized. That is a sign of a true gentleman," he said in a video shared on X.

What NAPO said:

Speaking to party leaders and supporters in Kumasi on Tuesday, June 9, 2024, NAPO argued that no other Ghanaian president, including Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, has driven the country's development as much as President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

NAPO asserted, "This is unprecedented in Ghana's history. Should President Akufo-Addo retire, I can confidently say that since Ghana's establishment in 1957, no president has been more beneficial to the state than Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo."

NAPO's claim that no one - not even Kwame Nkrumah, has led and developed Ghana more than Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo sparked strong criticisms on social media, with some condemning him for his disrespectful remarks.

Following the backlash, NAPO apologized to the public, stating that he had no intention of denigrating any president's image.
