Internationally celebrated Ghanaian Reggae artiste Rocky Dawuni has advised Ghanaians to put the nation first as the country heads into crucial elections in 2016.

Speaking on Morning Starr on Wednesday, Dawuni, who has been nominated in the ‘Best Reggae Album’ category at the 2016 Grammy Awards for his album ‘Branches of the Same Tree’ said Ghanaians must not use any divisive approaches to ruin its democratic credentials.

“When it comes to democracy I believe that Ghana, we are at the forefront, we have been able to evolve and change governments over time without us rising against each other.

“So going into an election year I really want us to recognize the gift that we have, the blessing that we have so that we don’t use any kind of divisive approaches to compromise this gift that we have, we have to celebrate each other,” Dawuni told Morning Starr host Nii Arday Clegg.

Dawuni also called on Ghanaians to rally and support any leader that would be elected in the 2016 presidential elections.

“When we elect a leader we should all bond together to make them successful…because in the long run Ghana is higher than any political affiliation, Ghana first.”
