Ghanaian born rapper and DC Empire Front liner Donzy Chaka has revealed some shocking reasons why he does not partake in voting during general elections in Ghana. This comes after rumours went viral that the rapper has said there wasn’t any sense and benefit in voting.
During an interview with Donzy on “Showbiz Agenda” on Zylofon FM 102.1, he told the host Sammy Flex that he does not vote because politicians only come to promise that they will solve all the problems in the country but when you vote for them, nothing will be done about the problems. According to the “club” hitmaker, politicians lie to voters knowing very well that they can’t honour their promises and when they get the power, few people in the country enjoy the benefits.
“Bra Sammy, I still won`t vote because there is no benefit in voting. They will tell you I will do 120 percent of this but when they are being voted for, you won`t even see 30 percent of what they promised is done. When I was a kid, all my family members were NPP so it was by force to go and vote. If not, you wouldn’t get money for food and to go to school. They will tell you a lot of things but when they get the power, the benefits are shared among themselves so I realized that there isn’t any sense in voting” he narrated.
Clearing controversies around beefs in the industry, the rapper pointed out that artistes engage in beefs for personal gains but it doesn’t help the industry as a whole. “For beefs, it is for personal gains but it is not for the industry. Some people will say when artistes are beefing, it helps the industry but it isn’t true because even when Strongman and Medikal were beefing, I was very busy in the studio doing my recordings. I’m a rapper but I have never beefed before, but if someone brings it, I will reply to him.
In addition to this, he revealed that they haven’t organized an all-star concert in Tema because their people over there do not show them support and concern.”Bra Sammy you see Tema, if you organize a show over there, you wouldn’t get any support. The motivation and morale in you will push you to do an event in Tema but the people in Tema don’t show motivation that’s why we haven’t organized a show in Tema. The support Takoradi people are giving to Kinaata is not the same as what we get in Tema” he fumed.
When he was asked by the host Sammy Flex whether he could agree to be signed onto Sarkcess music when he is being invited, he said he might have a second thought and do it for loyalty sake. Meanwhile, Donzy Chaka has released his new single titled “follow me” which features Quamina MP and Front liner of Uptown Energy Pono Biom.
