Rapper. El excited about Bless The Mic music and art festival

Bless the Mic (BTM) has been described as Accra’s most exciting cultural event by Time Out Accra, and true to form the BTM team has put in place an exciting line up of performers (musicians, poets and grafitti artists to name a few) for this year’s Bless the Mic Arts and Music Festival which commences on Thursday, 27th May with a corporate event at Rockstone’s Office in Accra, moves to Barcardi’s Night Club in Tema for a night of rap battles between some of Tema and Accra’s finest musicians, and culminates in a grand festival at Alliance Francaise on Saturday 29th May.

Ghanaian Urban Hip-hop Artist/Producer El, one of the performers participating in this year’s BTM Arts and Music Festival has express joy and anticipation ahead of the festival. For El, music is a part of him, “I didn’t actually decide to become a musician; the chips just fell in place”.

As someone with a passion for music, El admits that there are a lot of challenges in doing music in the Ghanaian environment and believes that the Bless The Mic platform is a channel that helps in promoting the works of artists such as himself. According to him, there is inadequate representation and support of the musical arts, lack of unity amongst artists, lack of proper scouting organizations resulting in non-promotion of real talent.

“BTM has an honorable reputation of representing and exposing budding musicians, participating is a great opportunity”, he comments.

El is currently working on his debut album, ‘Something E.L.se’ which would be released soon, according to the rapper.
