Record-breaking turnout at Kumasi street jam

The Kasapreko Air-Force street jam held at the X-5 Pub in Krofrom, on December 24, was dubbed: “The official Christmas event in Kumasi.”

The event saw major artistes such as Samini, Okyeame Kwame, Amakye Dede, Kofi Kinaata giving the more than 5,000 teeming crowd a memorable night of good music and incredible stage performances.

The usual lateness that characterises most shows was absent on the day. By 8:00pm, the X-5 pub which has a large outdoor ground space was filled to capacity and a number of people were at the gate trying to find their way through to catch a glimpse of the various performances.

The concert was carried live on Nhyira FM, Sikka FM and YFM.

Joe Wasty of MTN Hit Maker fame set the tone for the show as he wowed the crowd with his songs. At this point, the atmosphere at X-5 pub was charged. He was immediately followed by an underground musician, Ewurasi who also charmed the audience with her captivating voice and amazing performance.

The Dope Fante Rapper, Kofi Kinaata did not disappoint patrons, he sang his heart to the admiration of all.

Okyeame Kwame and Abrantie Amakye Dede were on top of their games and as usual thrilled the crowd with their hit songs leaving the crowd yearning for more. The show at this point was like one big non-stop night of fun.

The crowd went crazy when Comedian cum rapper Lil Wayne mounted the stage to perform. He sang, rapped and danced to the amusement of many who doubted his capabilities in showmanship. At a point, he started removing his clothes and throwing them out to the crowd.

The Linda-Hitmaker, Samini dropped hit song after hit song with a live band. He spent one hour on stage singing both his old songs and current ones. His latest ‘Iskoki’ made patrons gyrating and singing in unison as he performed. Samini really knows how to move the crowd, as he made sure the audience sang along with him throughout his stage performance.

Concert goers were obviously given an overdose of fun, music, dance and great show of talent as there were also loads of giveaways from title sponsors of the show Kasapreko Air-Force Bitters. Even though the show was free, there was strict adherence to drinking age as the underage weren’t allowed to drink alcohol.

DJs on rotation were YFM’s DJ Slim, DJ Hitman. MCs for the night were Abeiku Santana and Lil Wayne.

The street jam was climaxed with display of fireworks to usher the people of Kumasi into the Christmas day.

The show has been adjudged by the people of Kumasi as the biggest event of the year and have called on organisers to bring it back next year.
