Dancehall promoter cum artist, Mr. Logic on Happy FM’s Showbiz Xtra from indication threw his weight behind Sidney when he said Reggie was not the originator of Hip Life.

Mr. Logic narrating his side of events back then when the whole movement started told Dr Cann;

“Reggie came to brand Hip Life because the very first day I heard the word Hip Life, it didn’t sit down well with me. We were wondering if it will work or not.

Back then we had Funky music and High Life so adding Hip to the Life was some way. But gradually it caught on.

Reggie is grown in terms of age and I give him respect for his age and achievements but whenever he says Grandpapa, I understand it in only one way; among the rappers, he is one of the oldest.

I will understand that he is grown but he didn’t start the rap thing. It’s not on record. No individual from the beginning will believe this because as soon as you say it people will begin to say you hate him. Especially, the news writers currently who are 20,21 and 22 years mostly don’t want the history, they just want what is current.”

Born Emmanuel Barnes, Logic noted Reggie’s recent CNN interview didn’t go down well with a lot of his comrades.

“When Reggie was on CNN, he made it seem if he didn’t come back home, Ghanaians wouldn’t know rap. He said he was the person who started this whole movement and the lady interviewing him also toed that line. So boys were not happy in a way because before Reggie came, boys were rapping.”

“I respect Reggie a lot. If Reggie is listening he should understand this because Zeal in VVIP and Promzy were also there from the beginning. There used to be only one studio in Nima and that’s where we all went and waits for our chance to use the studio.

“Ghanaians don’t believe in history, if a person dies today, no one mentions your name again because people believe you are dead and gone so you should be forgotten.

I believe if you don’t respect your past you won’t know your future. All we have said here is not because we hate Reggie. We are trying to set the record straight. Ghanaians should take the vital lessons and lets all learn.

“The reason why a lot of these people have been relegated to the back is that, Reggie himself carries the Grandpapa title a little too much. He has shirts with Grandpapa written on it and all.”

Do you agree with Mr. Logic?
