Gone are the days when Music was taught as a subject in basic schools and during that time as well, on Fridays, there would be Music & Dance session and more.
Well, hilife musician, Wutah Afriyie is calling on the Government, thus the Minister of Creative Arts through Ministry of Education to reintroduce Music as an academic subject.
He posted on instagram,
DEAR MINISTER IN CHARGE OF CREATIVE ARTS , IF THE MUSICOLOGIST AND PATRIOT, OWURA EPHRAIM AMU , ONE OF AFRICA'S GREATEST MUSICIANS WAS A MUSIC TUTOR AND AS A RESULT INFORMED GENERATIONS YET UNBORN BEYOND THE MUSIC SPACE ,THEN THERE IS THE URGENT NEED TO REINTRODUCE MUSIC AS AN ACADEMIC SUBJECT IN OUR BASIC SCHOOLS WITH EVERY STUDENT MADE TO LEARN TO PLAY AT LEAST AN INSTRUMENT.
THAT WOULD BE REDUCING THE UNEMPLOYMENT SCALE THAT CONFRONTS OUR YOUNG FOLKS WHEN OUT OF SCHOOL. THE LEAST WE CAN GET FROM SUCH AN EXERCISE AS A NATION IS BREEDING A BETTER MUSICIAN TODAY AND IN THE FUTURE .
I am just a humble citizen, not a spectator.
