Resource Centre for MUSIGA commissioned

A fully furnished computer lab to serve as a Resource Center for the Musicians Unions of Ghana was commissioned last Friday, September 14th 2012 at a ceremony at the MUSIGA Head Office, Accra.

The ceremony was attended by a cross section of MUSIGA National and Regional Executives, Media Persons and Executives of the Ghana Investment Fund For Electronic Communications, GIFEC, headed by their Administrator, Honorable Kofi Attor.

Hon. Attor recounted that the President of MUSIGA, Bice Osei Kuffour contacted them and presented a proposal on their requirements and reasons why they needed those. He added that after series of meetings, they finally agreed on the volume of support and commended the seriousness and aggressiveness with which the President worked to ensure that the help they needed will get to them.

Hon. Attor also spoke GIFEC’s support for schools with no computers to aid their ICT studies. He mentioned that they had already provided such support to some schools and had adopted one primary school within the Labone vicinity where their office is located.

He also spoke about the vast potential musicians have and how he expects them to tap into that potential to improve themselves and contribute to their economy. He also spoke about his association with the arts. The 2nd Vice President of MUSIGA, Bessa Simons praised the company for lending enough support to MUSIGA to cover all Regional Offices and promised that indeed, the computers will be put to good use.

Present at the commissioning were Della Hayes, Ras Appiah Levi, Kakra Tagoe (of Tagoe Sisters), Tic Tac, Reverend Yawson and Chizzy Wailer and representatives from the Regional Offices.

After the commissioning of the Resource Center, Bessa Simons presented the computers to the Regional Executives and tasked them to ensure they use it for the Union’s activities.
