Rev. Minister Endorses Rap Music

REV. George Agyekum of the Love Community Chapel has observed that Rap music is not evil and that it can be used in Christianity to proclaim God?s message to humanity.

According to him, most people have ill-feeling about Rap music that has besieged the music industry, but said, it is the message it contains that matters, and therefore, appealed to Ghanaians to feel free to use the Rap music to praise God.

Rev. Agyekum made the admonishing at a reggae gospel rock show at the National Theatre, Accra where a Canadian Reggae Gospel musician, Ms. Kay Morris put up a splendid performance with two others from Barbados and London.

The musical concert, which was dubbed "April Praise", was jointly organized by a Ghanaian printing firm Combert Impressions and Ceval Consult.

Kay Morris, who is the President of the Kay Morris Foundation, an NGO that is concerned about the welfare of the dejected and the underprivileged, urged Ghanaians to reach out to people who need help in life.

Prior to the musical concert, the team, led by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), visited the Budumbura refugee camp where they donated drugs to the St. Gregory?s Catholic clinic at the camp that serves about 44,000 people there. They later donated similar drugs to the Fevers Unit of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

At both occasions the team interacted with the inmates and collated the problems that confront them with a pledge to solicit support for them on their return to Canada.

Having realized that the St. Gregory Catholic clinic is operating much beyond its capacity, Ms. Morris called on philanthropists, organizations and individuals to assist the refugee camp in diverse ways.

She was however impressed with the role UNHCR has played over the years to assist the Budumbura Refugee camp. She was also full of praise for the hospitality of Ghanaians.

Kay Morris appealed to NGO?s to make sure that they gave of their best to the people they target, rather than trying to become rich over-night, and thereby called for proper auditing and monitoring of NGO?s in order to bring checks and balances on their activities.
