Hiplife Musician, Rex Omar has praised rapper, Sarkodie, for a successful concert at the Apollo theatre, America.
Speaking on YFM, Rex Omar commended the BET award winner for his contributions in the Ghana Music Industry and beyond.
"I'm very proud of him, sometimes I wonder why some Ghanaians say or do what they do. This is the first time a young Ghanaian artists organized a concert on his own at the Apollo Theatre in America and the place was packed", he said.
Musician and radio presenter, Quophi Okyeame revealed after Sarkodie's concert that, “Akyeame was the first Hiplife duo to play at the Apollo Theatre to a mix crowd so huge the police came to stop the show. This was in 2000 with Daddy Lumba".
Rex, who went silent in the Music Industry for 10 years added, "Why can't we we say he has done well. I heard people saying that he didn't make any history and he didn't do it first. And so what? He has done it.
A Ghanaian has done it and that means it's possible. Nobody has done it before.
He organized the show himself. Sarkodie! honestly speaking, I'm proud of him and if Ghanaians will support our own, thats the way forward. Let support our own and move forward."
The iconic Apollo Theatre in New York on Saturday came alive with a sold out concert featuring Sarkodie and some of Ghana and Africa’s biggest stars, appropriately tagged #SarkodieHistoryInTheMaking.
Present on stage were most of the advertised artists including Kwaw Kese, Bisa Kdei, EL, Banky W and more
