SDA Church singing bands hold rally

Asokore-Koforidua, Dec. 29, GNA - The President of the East Ghana Conference of the Seventh Day Adventists Church (SDA), Pastor Kwabena Twum has called on Christians to desist from hiding behind the cloak of church activities to indulge in immoral activities.

He expressed concern that some Christians, especially the youth, allowed themselves to be "captivated by satanic influences" such as drunkeness and fornication during Christmas and Easter celebrations and other occasions against the doctrine of the Church.

Pastor Twum was addressing a three-day regional rally of the Church, which was attended by singing bands from 23 districts in the Eastern Region and Asaman district in the Ashanti Region at Asokore-Koforidua on Saturday.

He reiterated that religious festivities should rather serve as positive turning points for Christians.

Pastor Twum said 2004 had been declared as a Year of Evangelism by the Church and urged members of the Church to get actively involved in its programmes to bring "those still in the darkness to see the light through their lives."

The Principal of the SDA Training College, Elder Akumfi Ameyaw, appealed to parents to take keen interest in their children's education to enable them to attain higher academic positions for national development.
