Comedy skit maker SDK is crying over the high cost of data and the low-speed internet connectivity in Ghana.

Talking about the challenges skit makers and content creators go through in their line of work, the popular skit maker explained that their work has become relatively expensive due to the surge in prices of internet data.

Although internet costs have skyrocketed, SDK said that internet speed and connectivity continue to be slow, impeding their productivity in terms of content creation.

“I am also a content creator, and I agree with what my colleague just said. The issue of internet connectivity for we content creators is of major concern, and it is not only about the cost of internet now but also the speed of it,” SDK said while questioning John Dramani Mahama at a Town Hall meeting organized by the National Democratic Congress.

The comedian also added that he had to quit acting and filming his comedy skit because of the high cost of internet data.

He explained, “I used to be an actor, and that was what fetched money for me and my family, however, due to internet issues, and the high cost of the internet, I had to switch to going around to eat people’s food.”

SDK pleaded with the president to reduce the exorbitant cost of the internet should he be elected to be president of Ghana again.


In his response, John Dramani Mahama promised to implement measures that will level the playing ground for all telecommunication networks and prevent situations where a single brand has a monopoly over the internet market.
