According to Baba Sadiq Abdulai Abu, he has finally spoken to Stonebwoy and his manager, Chief, after they failed to honour a reported pro bono booking for his recent music event.
Baba Sadiq spoke to Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z program on Saturday, May 25, 2024.
He said that since the April 11 Salla Fest, he had struggled to reach Stonebwoy and the team via “a couple of messages and calls”.
“Last week Tuesday,” however, he finally spoke to Chief, “and I spoke to Stonebwoy on Wednesday,” he explained.
The 3 Media Network founder said: “I think Chief reached out to my guy Ricky regarding a few things they had seen online and was speaking to me about it, and then there was an opportunity to speak about Salla, and then what they felt about it. For instance, why after the event, there wasn’t any statement or communication from us regarding Shatta’s outbursts? I mean, I did explain to him. There was something also he brought up that we discussed.”
He noted, ultimately, “Until then, I didn’t know why [they] didn’t show up” for Salla Fest at Abeka main street, Accra.
Without quoting Chief or Reggae/Dancehall singer Stonebwoy’s words, Mr. Abdulai Abu said: “I think he made the point that until – even on the day, on the night – they would have wanted to come, I mean, they just weren’t comfortable with the inclusion of Shatta Wale.”
Dadzie sought to confirm Chief saying this, to which Abu responded: “No, he communicated this.”
“He essentially made me aware that: ‘Look, we, I, know what exists’. So they didn’t really feel comfortable with Shatta’s inclusion,” he stressed.
Furthermore, he added, “I had to clarify some of the things Shatta was saying” on the stage because of their absence.
Baba Sadiq categorically stated, also, “There was no payment” involved in Stonebwoy performing for the Salla Fest event.
The entertainment entrepreneur is the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Okaikwei Central Constituency.
When Reggae/Dancehall singer Shatta Wale observed his rival Stonebwoy did not show up at Salla Fest to perform ahead of him, he ranted and insulted him, mocking him for once limping due to a now-corrected disability in his right leg.
Sallah is a celebration that marks the end of the Islamic annual ritual fasting, Ramadan.
