Samini’s relevance now depends on other people’s hit songs

One, two, three and still counting because we have actually lost count on number of songs the dancehall king has jumped on this year to remix or remake or possess as the case may be. Could this be Samini’s strategy to sustain relevance or probably an attempt to continuously grabbed attention?

Over the past few months, Samini has jumped on almost every song, from P-Square-Alingo to Fuse ODG-Antenna, Chris Brown-Don’t Judge Me, Drake -Started from the Bottom and many others.

“In the very latest of his releases, he jumps onto Sarkodie’s controversial Illuminati single, and hands it – a makeover completely different in feel and lyrical punch. Bob Marley as he calls the latest one openly glorifies marijuana.” Enewsgh.com report

After the CEO album which landed him 3 slots and won him album of the year in 2011 at Ghana Music Awards, Samini has been struggling to get a hit song but unfortunately luck is not yet on his side after producing and featured numerous old and young talented artiste.

Due to lack of hit song, the 2011 most gifted Ragga dancehall, Channel O music video awards winner totally lost out in 2012 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards without a single nomination.

This year award ceremony is also not in his favour, as he only managed to grab one nomination in Reggae Dance Hall Category along with Bandana, Blakk Rasta, Eazzy, Knii lante and Kaakie. I doubt him winning the category because of the late released of the song featuring Wizkid – Time Bomb.

Samini has released number of tracks, Pounds and Dollars, Body Flame features dancehall queen Kaakie, Spoil There features Kwaw Kese, Best of Me, Samini features 2face – CID Baby and others but none as enjoyed more than a month airplay.

Almost all the song he has jumped on is either controversial song such as Alingo and Illuminati or most popular song such as Antenna and Don’t judge me.

Which shows that he is just trying to keep relevance.

We are sure no one will ever doubt his talent but we think it would be better to put those time and energy in composing his own original songs other than twisting others.
