SammiB Makes TV Debut

Mrs Bampoe must have given her son the go-ahead. When Ghanaian Sammi B was evicted from the Big Brother Africa house last year, he said he would love to pursue a music career in South Africa..."if my mother agrees".

He got his wish. Tonight at 8, Sammi B - full name Samuel Bampoe - makes his Tv presenting debut on 233 for Ghana, which is part of the new slate of the pan-African programming on DStv's youth music channel, Channel O.

On 233 for Ghana, Sammi takes viewers on a voyage of discovery through the music genres and people of Ghana, incorporating his unique ability to freestyle and rap using the native Ashanti language known as Twi. Should be one to watch, considering his massive comedy value he brought to the BBA house .

Other changes in the line-up include Ngoma, which was previously called The Fuse. The show is presented by Mapumba Cilombo, an established musician of Congolese origin, and is about discovering new talent and showcasing established talent from Africa.

When first launched seven years ago, Channel O sought to be a platform for African music videos. Its defining statement at the time was "Sound Television". The channel has grown and is now a medium that expresses various urban African lifestyles.

Now, with a new look and line-up, the channel is an even more accurate reflection of its wide variety of viewers.
