Suhum (E/R), Dec. 14, GNA - Seven executive official of the Abibiman Sankofa Cultural Movement (ASCUM) undertook a day's familiarization tour to some units under their jurisdiction in the Eastern Region. The tour which was under the theme: "The harder your days, the harder we try", formed part of a programme designed to acquaint members with activities carried out in the communities. It was also meant to introduce some of the national new executives of the Movement to the local executives and members.
Among the entourage were Mr. Freeman Madzi, founder and executive director; Alhaji Alhassan Hudu, national projects coordinator and Madam Evelyn Yeboah, director of culture and women's affairs.
The communities visited were in the Suhum Kraboa Coaltar District. At Abenabo Numbers One and Two, the local executives led the team to inspect a 70-acre cassava;
13-acre maize; four-acre cocoyam farms and a fishpond. At a meeting later, Mr. Mdzi pointed out that Ghanaians should take up their roles and responsibilities, to work towards effective and efficient service delivery to uplift the living conditions of the rural people.
Alhaji Hudu called on women to join forces with other stakeholders, to help educate the public on the spread of the HIV/AIDS disease. He added that the rate at which the virus was spreading called for a holistic approach and co-operation with others to help curb it. The Abenabo Unit cultural group entertained the visitors to drumming and 'Klama' dancing.
