Award winning Ghanaian Hiplife artist Sarkodie has been nominated in the Best African Act category of the 17th edition of the Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards slated for November.
The U Go Kill Me hit singer was nominated alongside some of Africa’s finest artistes such as Amadou & Mariam, Cabo Snoop, Camp Mulla, D’banj, Fally Ipupa, Fatoumata Diawara, P-Square, Spoek Mathambo and The Very Best.
The nominees for the awards were announced Monday with Plan B and Emeli Sande leading the pack with five nods each.
Rita Ora and Labrinth also stand the chance of taking home a plaque at the event in November, picking up four nominations each.
Sande will battle it out with Tulisa and Jessie J in the Best UK Female category. She is also for Best R&B/Soul, Best Video for My Kind Of Love, Best Song for Next To Me and Best Album for Our Version Of Events.
Meanwhile, Plan B will go face-to-face with the likes of Labrinth, Ed Sheeran and Professor Green for Best UK Male and has also been named in the Best Hip-Hop/Grime, Best Song, Best Video and Best Album categories.
X Factor stars Rebecca Ferguson and Misha B also picked up nods, with Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé all having a chance of winning the Best International Act award.
MOBO founder Kanya King MBE, said of this year's bash: "We are very excited about the nominations for the 17th MOBO Awards.

The ceremony will take place on Saturday, 3rd November at the Echo Arena in Liverpool. Fans can buy tickets and vote for their favourite artists on the MOBO website.
