Sarkodie snubs 2015 VGMA for Shatta Wale’s Beach Party (Photos)

Hiphop/ Hiplife Artiste of the Year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) 2015, Sarkodie, born Micheal Owusu Addo "could not attend the show due to some reasons".

This was the statement made by his representative who received his awards on his behalf.

Ghana’s finest rapper won two other awards including Most Popular Song of the Year with “Adonai” and Best Collaboration of the Year at the VGMA.

“Obidi” as he is affectionately called by his fans was billed to perform at the Mixtape Beach Party which was organized by Shatta Movement, Bullhaus Entertainment and Richgame Records at the Shatta Beach.

This came after a brouhaha between the award-winning rapper and Charterhouse, organizers of the VGMAs over performance fee.

The beach party which coincided with the 2015 edition of the VGMA witnessed massive turn out from Ghanaians and great performances from Sarkodie and all other artistes who were billed to perform.

Shatta Wale, who showed appreciation to Sarkodie for coming to the beach party to perform tweeted: “God bless you His Excellency SACKCESS OBIDIBAMA”.

He added, “I call Sarkodie his Excellency SACKCESS OBIDIBAMA, Biggest Rapper ever in the history of Ghana”.

Among other musicians who performed at the Mixtape Beach Party were Jupiter, Pope Skinny, Chameleon among others.

Patrons of the Beach Party used social media to express contentment with the event held at the Shatta Beach in James Town, Accra.
