The much-publicized ‘Save the Kids With Camidoh’ event which is aimed at raising funds for mothers who are financially handicapped and cannot pay for their delivery bills is set to come off this Saturday at Moka’s Resto Cafe, 21 Ndabaningi Sithole Rd, Labone-Accra.

Spearheaded by Grind Don’t Stop (GDS Control) artiste Camidoh and his management company GB Recz, the event is expected to raise funds for mothers who are detained for days or months for outstanding bills after childbirth at some general hospitals, including Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) and 37 Military Hospital.

“When you look at the mothers who are stuck in the hospital after delivery because they are unable to pay their bills, the number all across the country is so high,” said Camidoh in an interview with GhanaWeb.

“I told my team where I’ve gotten to, I’d want to do some to help society. We looked at that director because obviously I’ve been raised by a single mother. The motive is just to help.”

Tickets for the event, according to Camidoh are selling for GHC 300 per head.

“You get a table with food and drinks. GHC 100 goes into your hospitality and the rest goes towards the donation to save these kids and their mothers,” he said.

“The idea is not to have a concert but to raise funds,” he added while stating there will be some performances from some artistes and speeches “to give proper insight of what the situation is at the hospitals.”

Camidoh further disclosed the event will be held annually. As part of efforts to project the need to assist mothers in such situations, the musician said he would dedicate a percentage of the streaming revenue from his album towards the initiative.
