Gospel musician Akesse Brempong has added his voice to the debate on whether or not secular musicians can compose Gospel music.

According to him, God can use anyone, even non-believers, to spread His message.

Speaking in a studio discussion on Joy FM, Akesse Brempong argued that God does not discriminate on who he uses to praise Him.

He disclosed that some popular gospel songs are written by secular artistes.

"Some of the songs that gospel musicians have recorded, if we tell you the writers of the song you would be amazed.

"And this is what I believe; that if God can use a donkey, God reserves the right to whoever he wants to use."

He added "Even stones! Jesus said if these people shut up, the stones will cry out in their place."

Akesse Brempong’s comments come amid debates on Gospel music and who is eligible to compose such songs.

Notably, some popular secular musicians, such as Kuami Eugene and Kwabena Kwabena, have written songs for gospel artistes.

Additionally, songs like King Paluta’s ‘Aseda’ and ‘Makoma’ have been spotted being performed in churches.
