It is obvious in this contemporary movie era that, Film/TV streaming and downloads has overtaken DVD sales in the world as a result of the invention of technology.

Sammykaymedia monitored a heated argument between two popular Ghanaian movie producers Socrate Sarfo and Kofi Asamoah on Zylofon FM hosted by Sammy Flex.

Mr. Sarfo who is advocating for the sales of movies on CDs said he is ready to activate DVD sales on the street with his new movies.

However, Kofi Asamoah who is of a different opinion said the already dying industry will continue to decline if movie producers go back to the selling of DVDs on the street.

He argued that “I’m not against the selling of DVDs because it is part of the distribution system, but shooting a movie and selling them on CDs two weeks or months after release will kill the cinema industry”, Kofi Asamoah stated.

He further explained that “movie patrons will opt not to go to the cinemas, pay GHC30 to watch movies when released because they know they can wait for some two weeks and buy the CDs for GHC10…he concluded.
